Two days ago I attended a bahai meeting here in Sydney and there I met a Sri Lankan man who had previously been a hindu but had become a bahai. I told him about the Vallalar website and the next night he said he believed Vallalar when he spoke of the glory that was about to manifest was speaking of Bahá'u'lláh. Its true the Bahais ideas on a universal religion are similar to Ramalinga Adigals. Was Bahá'u'lláh of the bahais the one he spoke of? It's very exiting if he was.
I was happy to see another translation* of the Jeeva Karuunya Ozhukham* appear amongst the english articles, this is the greatest treasure of all right? S Sethu's translation is very beautiful (english books section), it would be nice if she would revise it and correct the syntax errors though. Please feel free to send a box of these books here to australia. Are there sanmargas in Sydney?

May the sceptre devoid of compassion wholly vanish from the face of the earth!
May persons of universal vision in search of God's grace reign over this earthly kingdom!
May the good and the pure attain the ends they seek!
May all desire the best for others and live in harmony with them.
I am very pleased to hear some one compared bahi with vallal peruman.
Once again thanks for that.
Bahi's basic principle is to prepare people to sense true saviour when he come to the earth.Ofcourse he accepted all the religions and from them he paved his way and form oganised sect to guide the people.I once visited
Lotus temple in New Delhi near Nehru place
.It is a very nice temple in which no idols or any type of traditional worship but only simply
silence
.
In Vaddalore our vallal peruman paved the way for
deathlessness
.So we can understand the fundamental difference.

ABOUT SAINT THIRU ARUTPRAKASA VALLALAR, VADALUR, TAMILNADU, INDIA.
Here in Tamil Nadu, Vallalar was born at Marudhur through a word (சம்பு பக்ஷ வாக்கு) from a yogi. (It is not like a normal birth)
At the earlier stage itself he started writing poems on various Gods without studying in any school.
On a later stage he worshipped the cretor or God in the form of Supreme Light. He said the
God is the embodiment of light and grace.
The Maha mantra is
Arutperunjothi
Arutperunjothi Thaniperungarunai
Arutperunjothi
He taught his followers about the universal brotherhood and universal harmony. He preached
reverence for life, religious tolerance, self dedication, self purification, above all, non
violence and vegetarianism. His doctrine of Jeevakarunya, the unique compassion is as he asserts
is the true form of worship of God leading a man to immortality.
Some of the poems of Vallalar in Thiru Arutpa (திரு அருட்பா) rendered in English (By Swami
Saravanananda of Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, India) are given below:
l. Against lust:
Driven to the jungle,
I fell in the eyes of the hunter,
He pursues me. I run for my life,
but wherever I go he follows me,
Thus I am driven hither and thither.
My Lord, I yearn for your grace,
which will rescue me from this hazard.
To whom else shall I confess my wretchedness?
What shall I do if your grace is not forthcoming for my rescue?
What punishment shall I inflict on myself.
2. All sufferings driven away at the instance of the Lord.
Both Sithsabai and Porsabai have become my own.
All celestials talk only oe me.
What is these for religions to deride me?
All sufferings caused by my birth have ceased to exist from this moment
(ஆனந்த மேலீடு.3 வரிகள் 2.)
3. The Bliss of the Lord compared with that of the worldly dishes.
Mangoes, jack fruits and plantain fruits are crushed separately
and their juice distilled and mixed togehter.
Sugar and sugar candy are added in plenty.
Pure honey, milk, coconut juice and powder of green gram are moxed with it.
Lastly, after adding sweet ghee, this mixture is taken to the stove and
a sweet dish is prepared.
Sweeter than this dish is the bliss of the Lord
(அருள் விளக்க மாலை 17)
4. Happiness prevailing in the outer world is only a fraction of the Divine
experience
.
During the hot summer at l2 noon, a traveller walking a long distance comes in sight of a green tree with full of branches and green leaves.
He sits under the shadow of the ree and thereby he is relived of his tiredness and fatigue. What will be his feeling and appreciation about the green shade of the tree?
How glad will he be if he gets a sweet, ripe fruit there to eat?
Nearly he sees a stream flowing with sweet cold water surrounded on either banks with coloured flowers emanating sweet fragrance bringing solace not only to the eyes but also to his mind.
He now feels that he is seated on a green meadow from where he takes rest
The sweet breeze around him brings more comfort and thus he feels very fresh now with new gains and forgets all previous miseries.
The Divnine experience the Saint acquired with the union of the Lord surpasses all such happiness prevailed in the outer world
(அருள்விளக்கமாலை.3)
5.Longing for a body ever existing without any destruction.
I yearned for a body, which will exist for ever and not destructible by any of the following:
Air, earth, ether, fire, water, sun, king of destruction (யமன்) disease, weapon planet, cruel deeds and any others which will have a destructive nature.
My desire was fulfilled in no time.
You, worldly people, don't think that begging is below to your dignity.
Please surrender completely to the feet of the Lord Arutperunjothi
(Addenda, stanza - 64)
6. From the very beginning of the l2th year till this 51st year, the poor soul has been subject to so many difficulties and if expressed out, even hard metals like iron will melt.
Now I have been equipped with your Grace, all the past miseries, and difficulties have vanished and I am put in utmost happiness
7. Take everything which is mine. Give me everything that is yours
8. How long would it take for me to swim across the sea of grief.
9. The Lord and myself become one. The experience I had at that juncture is an all comprenensive grand space.
Translation of one poem from Thiru Arutpa by Thiru G. Vanmikinathan
To Vallalar, plants too were living creatures. He was an ascetic, non pareil. To put it in a few words, Vallalar was the embodiment of compassion. He was compassion incarnate. He sings:
Whenever my mind strayed into worldly affairs
due to surging compassion towards living beings,
I got alarmed
and petitioned Your feet,
and even today petition Your feet,
assuredly, my life and my compassion
are one; not two;
if compassion departs (from my heart),
my life too departs,
Oh Unique One in my heart,
I swear this by Your feet.

Luke, who initiated the discussion “Was Bahá'u'lláh the light Vallalar saw?!” is a friend of mine whom I met recently. I am the Sri Lankan Bahá’í he referred to in his posting. I was enlightened by Luke about Ramalinga Adigal who was a contemporary of Bahá'u'lláh.
After visiitng www.Vallalar.com and reading the introduction, it was my firm conviction that Adigal was talking about the coming of Bahaullah the promised one. But I must confess that I am not versed enough in the teachings of Vallalar or Bahá'u'lláh to appropriately answer Luke's question and clear the doubts that other friends in this forum. I am deeply touched by the depth of knowledge of the friends who have so far responded to this topic namely Namasivayam, Ravi Kumar and Ramanujan. Particularly I am humbled by the response of Ramanujan.
At this juncture, I could only say this: Surprisingly there are many similarities between the lives of the two - Vallalar and Bahá'u'lláh- and commonalities between their teachings.
Notable are:
Their contemporaneity
Their early childhood and knowledge taught by God
Their visit to Black Pit, 'KarungKuzhi'
Their sufferings
Their teachings related to
abolition of prejudices
equality of gender, education of women
Independent investigation of truth - Vicharam
I shall in due course do some research and will cite passages from Writings of Bahá'u'lláh and Vallalar Website that are in accordance with each other.
Thank you for defining these common points clearly their teachings are in harmony;
and what was the black pit of 'KarungKuzhi' that both Ramalinga adigal and Bahá'u'lláh visited it?
This is an interesting verse Is it refering to the Bab and Vallalar?
The beginning of the good tidings: of Yahshua the Messiah, the Son of Yahweh. 2 Even as it is written in the prophets. Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Who shall prepare your way, Mark 1:1-2 Sacred scriptures Bethel edition
The Bahais believe this prophesy from Isaiah may have also refered to Bahá'u'lláh, the annointed one spoken of by all the prophets
The lotus temple is certainly beautiful

They just practice silence there (Why is silence said to be golden?
