Playing Dice with Diamonds of Science…….
Dear seekers of truth,
The saying by the mortals goes that none of the saints in this world could be a scientist and none of the scientists could be a saint as well but history teaches us that the only person who is a Saint as well as a Scientist in this world is Ramalinga Vallalar. The day is not far away for the extraordinary scientific expositions and findings of the scientist in the Saint to become columns of deliberations in the magazines like Guardian and the Scientific American. It is destiny that such scientific deliberations are to become subjects of extensive research by the CERN in Geneva and the Fermilab in Chicago. The outcome is to be dedicated to the benefit of the humanity as a whole in the field of energy, food, medicine and immunology. It is the duty of the present generation devoted to truth and committed to peace to see that such precious findings bequeathed by the Saint to posterity are not meant simply to be preserved like Egyptian mummies in some of the well guarded archives as artifacts of antiquity but to be disseminated throughout this world as a knowledge essential to every human being to understand the instrument of existence as a whole with all its parts.
2. The quintessence of science recorded in a mathematical and clinical precision by the Saint under the caption “Thiruvadi Perumai” in the sixth cantos in “Thiru Arutpa” could be rightly considered as a Note Book of a scientist without any grain of exaggeration.
3. It is placed on record that such practical scientific knowledge of the Saint has neither been borrowed from any of the scientific material hitherto published in any form in any corner of this world nor in anyway proves to be the residue of the scientific thoughts expressed by Aristotle 384-322 BC, Democritus about 460-370 BC, Copernicus 1473-1543, Galileo1564-1642 and Sir Isaac Newton 1642-1727 who had lived before Vallalar. The songs of science have also surpassed in content the scientific knowledge of Albert Einstein 1879-1955, Niels Bohr 1885-1962, Roger Penrose 1931- and Stephen Hawking 1942-, who were born after Vallalar (List of the Scientists illustrative). I also place my unimpeachable faith on record that neither the living scientific legends nor the future legacy of scientists still basking in the warmth of the cosmic womb could ever cause the scientific expositions of the Saint principally focused with a view to leading the entire humanity to the singularity of Almighty with the right to unity of souls under the shelter of oneness, to fade away into flags of dissension and arms of deterrence.
4. Anyone guided into the richness of this scientific presentation is instantly struck with amazement and awe as to whether instruments more sophisticated than Hubble Space Telescope to scan the expanse of the universe and equipments more complex than the present day Large Hadron Colliders to delve into the realms of the micro world, were at the disposal of the Saint sojourning inconspicuously in a remote hamlet unknown even to many of the Indians. The scientific presentation of Vallalar is not a resultant fruitfulness consequent to any laboured search, or re-search or research conducted over many years in a sophisticated lab equipped with technical instruments or by way of performing any intense thought experiments on a theoretical basis.
5. The Saint has demonstrated that all the critical facts of creation and its sustenance were mastered by him in no time by the grace of god. The amplitude of the scientific knowledge and the intensity of the assertions made in these songs of science (Thiruvadi Perumai) as to the workings of the gears of existence controlling the momentum of particle physics, molecular chemistry, microbiology, genetics, medicine, alchemy, astronomy and cosmology, stand evidence to the extensive and experience of the Saint in the realms unknown to science till date. We do not find any semblance of such comprehensive enlightenment comparable either in any of the scientific or spiritual history of this world.
6. It is well known to the followers of Vallalar that the collection of 45 songs now housed under the caption “Thiruvadi Perumai” initially appeared under the caption “Varambil Viyappu” when the Sixth Thirumurai was published for the first time in the year 1885. Later on, the compendium appeared under different headings in different publications, as listed below in seriatim:

Balakrishna Pillai the master craftsman who has spent a greater part of his life in an extensive search to collect and collate the writings of the saint in original as it exists in the handwriting of Vallalar and that of the devotees, has declared that the basis of the songs of Thiruvadi Perumai flows only from the copies available with five of the devotees of Vallalar. There is an unquestionable unanimity in this conclusion till Ooran Adigal who has also undertaken a thorough research of the ThiruArutpa and has gone to the extent of reclassifying the songs in the order as deemed appropriate by him.
7. However, an objective analysis leading to a subjective satisfaction has disclosed that Anubhava Malai of 100 songs certified to be in the handwriting of Vallalar, incorporates 6 songs of Thiruvadi Perumai also into its fold as presented below;

Except for the difference in wordings in Song No. 1 of Thiruvadi Perumai and Song no.34 of Anubhava Malai, all other songs mentioned in the tabulation above tally with each other verbatim. In Anubhava Malai the six songs have been certified to be in the hand of Vallalar. In Thiruvadi Perumai the same set of songs are declared to be on the basis of copies taken by the devotees. If there is a consensus that the two sets of songs are one and the same, then, we may reflect on the question as to how the same set of songs has been classified under two different headings and how such a misclassification has hitherto eluded the attention of the most devoted publishers. One may also appreciate how much of song No.34 of Anubhava Malai has undergone changes as song no.1 of Thiruvadi Perumai in the hands of the devotees who had copied from the original. It proves that the caution of Balakrishna Pillai as to any interpolation whether willful or otherwise in respect of the songs/prose not in the handwriting of Vallalar, is not altogether unfounded.
8. It may be appreciated that the scientific thoughts in Thiru Arutpa have been expressed initially by Swami Saravanananda in his book published under the title “Omni Grace and Science” in the year 1974. Shri T.R.Thulasiram of Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, has presented the scientific thoughts of Vallalar in the book “Vallalar’s Vision of Nuclear Physics and Nervous System” published in the year 1987. But the present article placed before the seekers of truth in the land of Vallalar is neither dependent on the aspect of translation of the songs nor in any way places reliance on the commentaries expressed by the above two respected souls in their publications. It is an exclusive research as ordained under the graceful guidance of the Master Saint.
9. Just as the Roman soldiers apportioned the belongings of Jesus Christ by casting dice as to who should have what just before his crucifixion, so also some of the scientists of the twenty first century have become instrumental to fashion the dice of deterrence to crucify the very existence of humanity itself on the cross of extinction. But Vallalar has hoisted the flag of science only to praise the grace of the Almighty in all its glory and dispel the ignorance in the minds of even believers as to the reality behind the concept of Almighty. Let us enter into the sanctuary of science spread in Thiruvadi Perumai and explore the expanse of the findings of Vallalar through song No.14:
“Affirm they solemnly, form of air or fire, as the state of god
If beseeched to discover the form of air or fire and apprise,
Retract they to some alternative, which if refuted with others
By repeated blinking, people like me, stand too bewildered;
Principles in states of manifestation and un-manifestation
Transcending barriers of limitation, becoming bliss in whole
Dancing unknown altogether to mind and senses in space;
Could anyone ever define the form of my Lord, oh my maid”.
10. Vallalar holds that there are schools which still claim that air or fire which is one or other of the five elements, as the state of god. It is true that all the forms and all the names in this world are forms and names of god only. But the positive affirmation that air or fire by itself is the state of god is not acceptable as god is the maker of these elements. Therefore, it does not stand to reason as to whether the creation could ever usurp the throne of its own creator. Vallalar declares that when the affirmation of air or fire as the state of god is contradicted, they come out with certain other form as the state of god. When that assertion is also disputed with reasons, without knowing what to say, such people blink on the verge of their limitation. The anguish expressed herein by the Saint is that it is not the unbelievers but the believers who betray their ignorance as to the state of god and unreasonably gloat on conjectures of their mind blissfully oblivious as to the reality of the Almighty.
11. The saint declares with certainty that the states of both manifestation and un-manifestation themselves are speck of dust playing to the limitation of the mind and senses. Only when one transcends above and sees the whole which is not qualified by the parts, then, one can appreciate as to what actually the song signifies. The forces which govern the macro cosmic world are at loggerheads with the forces operating at the micro cosmic level. The gravity of general relativity is not working in the field of quantum mechanics. The grand unified theory (GUT) is still eluding the elite scientific minds which strive in vain till date to bridge the macrocosmic matter with the sub atomic microcosm. Signs of soul are beyond the science of mind which proliferates within limitation on equations perfected by the constants again concocted in limitation of the mind. Therefore, the state of the universe when decoded in mathematical equations, it appears to be true but the reality is always otherwise. It is evident from the event horizons in the halls of science.
12. For the first time, the Saint defines the state of god in a scientific language not to the skeptics but to the believers wallowing in egotistical ignorance. We are aware of the heat of spirituality and the intensity of science balanced by the Saint in the following truthful lines erupting as volcanic lava from the subterranean recesses of this earth.
“Principles in states of manifestation and un-manifestation
Transcending barriers of limitation, becoming bliss in whole
Dancing unknown altogether to mind and senses in space;
Could anyone ever define the form of my Lord, oh my maid”.
Vallalar declares that the world of existence lies in two spheres, one in a manifested state and another in an un-manifest state. Even within the sphere of manifestation there is a sphere of un-manifestation. Like warp and weft in a fabric, this universe is shown to have been blended with matter and anti matter, quarks and anti quarks, proton and anti-proton, neutron and anti neutron and electron and positron. There is neutrino and then the dark matter. Even with such advanced scientific knowledge and sophisticated equipments like the Hubble’s Space Telescope, we are yet to come to a conclusion as to wherein ends the contours of the cosmos. Whether the universe is finite or infinite or expanding or it is in a steady state, no one could answer the question positively.
13. How science seeks to define the absolute has been explained by Sir Isaac Newton long before and in that explanation he has declared the inherent weakness of Science; Absolute space, in its own nature and with regard to anything external, always remains similar and unmovable. Relative space is some movable dimension or measure of absolute space, which our senses determine by its position with respect of other bodies, and is commonly taken for absolute space.”

In 1917, applying his general theory of relativity to the world, Einstein discovers that the equations say that the universe must be either expanding or contracting, but not stable. To stabilize his theory, Einstein introduces his ‘cosmological constant’ as a parameter which makes the model of the universe, described in terms of the general theory of relativity, static. He later calls this ‘cosmological constant’ his greatest mistake.
14. We interact with this world through our mind and senses. We are aligned with the part and not with the whole even in the case of our own earth. Both light and darkness encompass the earth. We live either in the sphere of light or in the sphere of darkness and living both in light and darkness simultaneously is out of question because of the limitation imposed on us. When one is immobilized before the wholeness of the earth itself, let us imagine our precarious position before the immensity of galaxy. To begin with, it may be recorded that only if we are in a position to define the form of the Almighty, then, we could define His mind. But the scientists proclaim that for then we would know the mind of god.” The ant hills may be taller than the elephant but for that reason whether any ant could ride the elephant shall always remain a question.
15. Even the instruments have become inadequate because the instruments were designed by the mind whereas the cosmos, the legacy of the Almighty functions in a different symmetry. Stephen Hawking, the British Physicist went to the extent of declaring that if the true unified theory in physics is discovered,
“We shall all, philosophers, scientists, and just ordinary people, be able to take part in the discussion of the question of why it is that we and the universe exist. If we find the answer to that, it would be ultimate triumph of human race—for then we would know the mind of god.”
But the scientist in Stephen Hawking does not know that the ingenious machination of the human mind is no match for the inscrutable machination of the Almighty. Whether anyone can discuss the question why it is that we and the universe exist?
16. Let us see how Vallalar answers the question in his own way to justify the impossibility of the task embarked upon by the earnest explorers of the Almighty in song.No.10 of Thiruvadi Perumai:
“Lustrous twilight He is and He is crystalline luminescent,
Light unparalleled in grosser and in nature He is so subtle
Other than such lip services, to tell the truth there is none
In the earth or in the sky and so all around anywhere else;
Known it is so only when the tree has ever borne the fruits
Method of its bearing or blossoming beyond reach forever
With sense of mere placental bondage, how I in the council
Could ever articulate absolute of the Master, oh my maid”
Let us concentrate just on the two lines of the above song to understand our intelligence;
Known it is so only when the tree has ever borne the fruits

Now we have known that the universe has come into existence. But the method by which it has come into existence is not within our knowledge irrespective of so many years of strenuous research in that field. How the galaxies and the solar families have taken their slots in the grand design of this universe is yet to be known.
17. Which could be considered as the face of earth? Which is the face of earth, whether, it is the expanse of the ocean, it is the desert of polar ice, it is the long range of mountains, it is the sea of deserts or it is the deep jungles impervious to the light of sun or the endless stretch of lands? Whether in this diversity, is it possible to attribute a common face to earth which by itself is a speck in the cosmic dust? The land of Almighty could not be surveyed or accessed by mere words, mind and senses. Neither Sigmund Freud nor Carl Jung, the giants of psychology has ever completed measurement of the contours of the mind. The researches undertaken into the realms of psyche by Dr Brian Weiss peeping into the innumerable lives in the past by the same soul by hypnotic regression stand evidence to the mind boggling expanse of existence. If the same soul undergoes so many births, then, how could we freeze the identity of the person in the present birth as one’s only reality? Therefore, Vallalar holds that when a person remains under the illusion that his present birth is his only existence, such a person could not transcend the limitation of mind.

18. Let us focus on our own solar family to understand the complexity of the structure of the cosmos and our limitation. Then, we shall know whether such complexity is amenable to mind’s objective evaluation as declared by Steven Hawking or it is beyond the reach of human mind as asserted by Saint Vallalar.

The above planets constitute the solar family. The rotation of earth carries us east up to 1,600 km per hour. Earth orbits round the sun in an ellipsis at 112,000 km per hour. Our solar system as such orbits the Milky Way galaxy at 800,000 km per hour. Against such background if we single out Venus alone, then, there is a peculiarity that it rotates anti clockwise therefore sun rises in the west and sets in the east in relation to all other planets other than Uranus which also follows suit of Venus. While one day is 243 earth days, the year of Venus comprises of 224.7 days; therefore, its day is higher than its year. How to calculate the age in Venus as in the Earth? See the number of moons around Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus and how to calculate full moon, new moon and star days in relation to Earth taking into consideration which moon? When the mind of Earth is powerless before the solar family itself, should we speak about the power of our mind before the galaxy or before the expanse of the universe?
19. We grasp the world through our senses. Let us take the sense of sight alone now for consideration. The energy scale descending through light’s spectrum are gamma rays, x-rays, ultra violet, visible light, infrared, microwave and radio waves. Within the narrow band of frequencies our eyes can see-visible light- the colours from highest frequency to lowest are; violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.

- Microwave
- Radio waves.
Micro waves and radio waves pertain to audio frequencies. From sense of sight we pass on to sense of hearing in the same spectrum. It is an enigma as to how the same spectrum holds light at one end and sound at the other end. Even in the audio waves we do not hear below or above certain decibels. Why certain decibels of sound are not amenable to the audio frequency of the human beings? There are certain things reached by the senses; there are certain things reached by instruments of precision engineered by the mind to aid the senses; but there are certain spheres still beyond the comprehension of the mind and the senses. There is some argument that what was known yesterday is known today and therefore, what is not known today may be known tomorrow or the day after. In that sense, they argue that one day everything would be known. They do not know that exploring the universe is not like sailing around the world to discover America or any other location on earth. It is like explaining rather than exploring what is light to the one who is born blind.
20. The constants which the scientists use to sensitize the mathematical equations could not be used to identify the origin of the cosmic shower—the rain of protons, heavy nuclei etc. Why the neutrinos originating from the solar premises undergo three changes before it reaches the earth? How they are in a peculiar position to permeate matter which obstructs light itself? Why there is duality of wave and particle like state in light? Why the Schrödinger’s cat is both alive and dead? What is matter and anti matter? Everything has been explained by Vallalar in the songs of Thiruvadi Perumai.
21. Albert Einstein who has fathered the illustrious children of special relativity and general relativity in the home of science while deflecting between the certainty of relativity and the probability of quantum mechanics said that “god is not playing dice”. Niels Bohr the celebrated quantum physicist said to Einstein “don’t tell god what to do with his dice”. Stephen Hawking the great cosmologist said that Einstein was wrong when he said that “god is not playing dice”. He added that consideration of the black holes suggests “not only that god does play dice, but also that he sometimes confuses us by throwing them where they can’t be seen”.
22. Long before the scientists have wondered whether god played dice or not, the Saint asserted that the incomprehensible dance of god in manifestation is beyond the play of dice. Vallalar was able to scan the entire span of existence in his contemplative meditation and declares that existence comprises of 10 states as detailed below in Song No.17 of Thiruvadi Perumai; in other words, there are eight steps in between god and manifestation as tabulated below; The revelation below at the level of sub atomic state is undreamt of even by science before 100 years. One would rise in respect and amazement if the attention is drawn to the song in Thiruvadi Perumai extracted below as rendered in English;
Manifestation one for ever, form is one and colour one,
Radiance there is one and therein nature is yet another;
Below that stratum resides atom subtle; then there part
That is the one and within that part nestles nucleus one;
Within that nucleus supreme rests energy; to that energy,
There is one Almighty; to all these, other than my Master
There is none else as the monarch within in that council
Who could ever praise His dancing glory, oh my maid.
The saint has scanned the entire span of existence in his contemplative meditation and declares that existence comprises of 10 states as detailed below in Song No.17 of Thiruvadi Perumai; in other words, there are eight steps in between god and manifestation:

23. Vallalar asserts that energy sprouts from the Almighty and from energy, the nucleus and from nucleus, the part and from that springs atom whose combination leads to Nature, radiance, Colour and Form which altogether constitute Manifestation as a whole. In the ensuing songs, the Saint describes about the individual states in an elaborate manner. In order to appreciate the scientific innovations of Vallalar in the right perspective, we have to know that electron itself which lies outside the nucleus of the atom has been discovered only in the year 1897, the proton in 1910 and the nucleus in 1911. In 1913, Niels Bohr completes his model of the atom without a neutron within the nucleus. Neutron in 1932 was identified. Neutrino was discovered in 1933. All the six Quarks were discovered from 1964 to 1984. How it was possible for Vallalar to make these assertions prior to 1874 itself?
24. But Vallalar declared in the years prior to 1874 that the entire manifestation emanated only from the singularity of Almighty and the Saint never subscribed to the theory of the universe coming into existence from a mathematical singularity. In his conclusion, the dance of existence is ever present without beginning and end and within the dance the process of manifestation emanating from the state of energy springing from god, is ever going on. In his science there is neither a “Big Bang” nor a “Big Crunch”. Einstein explained the enigma of existence long before that “the most incomprehensible thing about the Universe is that it is comprehensible”. Vallalar has demonstrated in Thiruvadi Perumai that the opposite of the statement of Einstein is true--the most comprehensible thing about the Universe is that it is incomprehensible.
25. The string theorists hold that world rests in super symmetry but Vallalar holds that the world lies in different symmetries held in a singularity. What is the cosmological principle which could decide the absolute first and then the relative within the absolute? The absolute conceived by the scientists is a referential relative within the absolute but they deem it as absolute as that is the optimum that mind with all its brilliance could conceive of on the cornerstones of scientific and mathematical constants.
26. Even in the field of spirituality there is a marked difference between the method of attainment between Thirumoolar and Vallalar. Whereas Thirumoolar dwells on the mandhiram, Vallalar dwells on the mere longing to see the lord as the criterion to be held in grace by Him. The method devised in Thirumandhiram is not applicable to the sanmarkkam of Vallalar.
Thirumoolar sings while reciting his history in Thirumandhiram--;Song No.147
“Let the world of cosmos attain the bliss I have attained
The un-manifest permeating the akash if chanted for ever
The carnal clinging to mandhiram rooted in consciousness
If encompassed in succession, it unfolds itself on its own”
But Vallalar in Mahadeva Malai song no.49 presents something far away from Thirumandhiram;
“Space views not, Vedas neither, nor the lotus resident
Vishnu glimpses not, neither Rudhra too striving for ever
Such place ego could neither; but we could visualize
The noble do so praise, oh the benevolence; yearning
Of soul sees not the flowery feet paving the lotus mind
Oh the lamp on vault of sky; oh the embodiment of bliss
Like a calf longing to see the cow which has delivered it
Encompassing so the beloved ones, oh god of purity”
27. In Manumurai kanda Vasagam, we see how the Saint has upheld the justice between the animal and the human being by clarifying that on the plane of soul every being is equal irrespective of the superiority in the senses. But here in this song, what the Saint expects is not the love prevalent between the human beings blessed with sixth sense but the bond operating at the lowest rungs between the animals with fifth sense. The song cited in Mahadeva Malai conveys in unambiguous terms in so much simplicity in diction and thought that the Almighty who could not be seen even by the gods themselves perfect in so many disciplines, yields to the human being in possession of such a simple degree of longing as that of the one expressed by a calf towards the cow which has delivered it. Vallalar holds that such a longing of a calf just budding in its fifth sense as quite adequate for the human beings with sixth sense to be embraced by the Almighty in grace. It is not the chanting of Mantra or holding it in consciousness becoming perfect in certain rituals as expected in agamas like Thirumandhiram which is required in the sanmarkkam of Vallalar.
28. Just as the findings of the Saint in the field of spirituality is a class apart from all the compositions in this world, so also the scientist in the saint has achieved the unattainable in the field of science incomprehensible to the most intelligent colliders operating under specific geographical locations of the earth or the space station positioned in the vault of the sky.
29. The science behind atomic reaction is based on the equivalence of mass and energy, first time expressed by Albert Einstein in his famous formula E=mc2 early 20th century, according to which the energy equivalent of matter is of a magnitude many millions of times greater than its weight. The theory was established by uranium fission and the chain reaction thereon. Albert Einstein wrote to President Franklin Roosevelt in 1939 to resist the German ambition which resulted in the foundation of the Manhattan Project.
30. The new discovery was first demonstrated by the atom bombs which destroyed Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945 to grind the World War II to a halt by an unconditional surrender. “Hibakusa”, a new word was coined in the Japanese language to describe lakhs of nuclear victims and their genetic descendants. Even after more than half a century has flown under the bridge of time, still the devastation entailing the genetic mutilation of the innocent victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has petrified the humanity. Albert Einstein wrote to the philosopher Bertrand Russell in April 1955, only one week before his death, in which he agreed to sign his name to a manifesto urging all nations to abandon the nuclear weapons. Bertrand Russell-Einstein Manifesto reads “Remember your humanity and forget the rest”. In my humble opinion, this final statement composed in compassion on behalf of the humanity in its entirety is more eloquent than all the scientific postulates of Albert Einstein. This statement of Einstein which falls in consonance with Vallalar exalting the right of unity of the humanity on the plane of oneness of all souls is more wanted to living in this world than to understand the operation of special and general relativity in the cosmos.
31. Why there was a change in such a mind? Is it the realization that the possession of nuclear arsenals in the name of deterrence may wipe out the humanity and the dear earth may be reduced to rubbles to become yet another belt of asteroids in the ellipses round the sun? But what Vallalar shows to the world is not destruction but preservation. Vallalar, the scientist in the saint is compassionate and what Vallalar wanted always was to guide the souls to the singularity of their maker and to embrace everyone in distress with the right to unity on the plane of soul. Vallalar paved the way for the scientist to be compassionate and to transcend the barriers of patriotism to sub serve the needs of the humanity irrespective of any national identity. It has become a reality in the CERN in Geneva which has become an embodiment of Sathya Vingnana Sabai of this world more profound in its mission than the United Nations.
32. What the collective effort of the CERN representing the scientific community of the entire world or for that matter any other such scientific constitution has failed to achieve the Grand Theory of Unification till date, was achieved by the lone scientist in the saint who has untied the knots of science in the design of Sathya Gnana Sabai and in the composition of Thiruvadi Perumai as guided by the grace of Almighty. The elementary particles are the fundamental constituents of all the matter in the universe. How Vallalar was able to scan the layers of existence at the micro level without any scientific knowledge and sophisticated instruments? It is pertinent to note that Vallalar has not only identified the fundamental constituents of the physical world but also delineated the forces interacting between such elementary particles 137 years before. While Science was struggling with the discovery of the constituents of atoms and the interacting forces therein, Vallalar was able to name them all and connect all these to one singularity, flowing from fountainhead of the Almighty.
33. The how and why of the singularity postulated have been formulated with the graceful guidance of Vallalar in the form of a scientific paper appending the entire Thiruvadi Perumai designed as strings of science in every song. Arrangements are being made to get the considered opinion of the intellectuals at a mini conference scheduled at Coimbatore on 21.12.2010. Then, the paper is to be presented before all the scientific forums of this world and to be published as an international edition in the form of a book under the title Unisoul Universe before 20th January, 2011 and ultimately to be referred to the Nobel Committee.
