“…… பிரம்மன் எனை இனி பிறப்பிப்பனோ ?”
Whether the creator (empowered) do have guts to order any more birth to me? asked Saint Ramalingam (Vallalar) at the age of nine (Deiva Mani Maalai). Vallalar endorses rebirth concept and cautions us not to loose the chance of utilizing the current human birth (which is rare and precious to get) because what is going to be the form of our next birth is not known to anybody. Vallalar is also certain about the possibilities of deathlessness and one can conquer the death through flawless “JEEVA KAARUNYAM’.
In prose chapter Vallalar gives a clue that the body which we got is like a house given to us for rent and this body belongs to God. The rent is to be paid in the form food. The care takers, namely FIRE (PITTAM), AIR (VAADHAM), WATER (SILETTHUMAM) will avail the rent and maintain the house (body.) In case of insufficient, excess, unproportional food if fed they will over power each other and this FAW (Fire, air, water) team may non-cooperate or call for strike (sickness). The tenant can passify it by compensating it suitably through medicine. (AUSHADHAM). If the tenant is irregular in paying rent (food), the care takers will have no strength or interest in maintaining the house. They send a legal notice (body detoriates) to the tenant (soul) and so, sooner or later soul has to vacate (occurrence of death). In a nut shell – body detoriates first – soul pars off next (Building collapsed – Tenant vacated) is a simple lease agreement.
There are hundreds of thousand tenants (souls) on the earth who are not able to pay rent (food) for their house (body) regularly. So the houses were getting surrendered to the house owner (God) much before the lease agreement period expires. The roll of the God can be broadly spelt, perhaps G-Generate; O-Operate’ D-Destroy. It is clear that most of the times, only the tenant happens to terminate the lease agreement. It is nearly a disgrace for the generator because the function of his operation is getting imbalanced and also such body destroying is happening without his consent. Vallalar felt this is embarrassing the almighty in spite of sufficient infra structure (food) is made available on the earth. It was not properly diverted towards the needy people. Very tactfully with the blessings of God he fould “JEEVA KAARUNYAM” as the only solution which mainly concentrates in ERADICATING starvation and its aftermath. He practiced it opening “Dharuma Salai”: in the year l867 A.D. at Vadalur lit fire cooking the food, feeding the needy people and that “fire is still burning continuously”. He also preached this subject to the world, “ANNA DHAANAM” should be non-stop, even if God tells his devotee to stop it.
This action has made a revolution and the poverty stricken folk (souls) could pay a meager to moderate rent (food for their house (body) resulting in phenomenal reduction in death rates. The almighty was very happy to see thousands of bodies were not getting surrendered, before the lease agreement period, because of the efforts put in by Vallalar thro “JEEVA KAARUNYAM”. The Almighty thought – after tll it is only one house (body) I gave to Saint Ramalingam through which he paved way and saved thousands of houses getting surrendered and it is going to be an ever living concept also. He decided to reward Saint Ramalingam suitably. He straight away called on Saint Ramalingam and said “ON MY SON RAMALINGAM” on this sunny day at this Dharuma Salai hall from now – I am transferring and registering the body, (which I gave it to you earlier for rent) to your soul which is now fully yours”.
For this there is a clear evidence in poem 4181 of THIRU ARUTPA.
“……மேலையிலே இம்மையிலே ஒருமையிலே தவத்தால் மேவுகின்ற பெரும் பயனாம் விளைவையெல்லாம் தருமச் சாலையிலே ஒரு பகலில் தந்த தனிப்பதியே”
In heaven, on earth, from oneness, thru’ penance (what one REAP is) unpreferred and sub-standard yield only (where is at) Dharuma Salai on that day (what was) given by the unique Lord (is only the bountiful grace)
This is not a sale deed because no resale or legal heir claim is possible. This is a “SOUL DEED:. The mortal body got registered with an immortal soul and became immortal. This is a “WORLD CLASS PHILOSOPHY” which is ever unique in the human race history.
This transaction took place after the year 1867 A.D. at Vadalur. In those days people were civilized, law bound and civil codes were respected. Any deed should fulfill the transaction / registration conditions. From lease deed to soul deed transaction the KAARUNYA JEEVAN which was the sole reason for ‘JEEVA KARUNYAM’ philosophy was called for WITNESSING the document and that is known as “JEEVA (soul) SAKTHI” (WITNESSED) MAALAI (POEMS). Vallalar was respecting the laws. So all his deeds are also legally flawless because he himself was always ‘aligning with civil codes’
