Can we change it?

Though destiny plays a crucial role in the life of human beings, continuous effort and sincere prayer towards the almighty may mitigate the repercussion of the karma in worldly life.

The saint Valluvar adds the same in other form that the continuous effort and perseverance always would get its reward.

தெய்வத்தான் ஆகா தெனினும் முயற்சிதன்
மெய்வருத்தக் கூலி தரும்.ce -619

Though fate-divine should make your labour vain;

Effort its labour's sure reward will gain. -619

Although it be said that, through fate, it cannot be attained, yet labour, with bodily exertion, will yield its reward.

In another kural, he also gives confidence to the sincere and hard working personality who wants to climb the success.

ஊழையும் உப்பக்கம் காண்பர் உலைவின்றித்
தாழாது உஞற்று பவர். -620

Who strive with undismayed, unfaltering mind,

At length shall leave opposing fate behind. -620

They who labour on, without fear and without fainting will see even fate (put) behind their back.

In another chapter- Hopefulness in Trouble (இடுக்கண் அழியாமை) he guides as the following;

இடுக்கண் வருங்கால் நகுக அதனை
அடுத்தூர்வது அஃதொப்ப தில். -621

Smile, with patient, hopeful heart, in troublous hour;

Meet and so vanquish grief; nothing hath equal power. -621

If troubles come, laugh; there is nothing like that, to press upon and drive away sorrow.

All the above said to be living in worldly life, those who want to achieve or climb the success. As the destiny is said to be one’s act –karma, and it is a chain which comes along with the birth, it is still believed that no atonement could minimize it. Whatever is happening is happening through karma.

The saint Vivekananda too adds as;

If you are going to exist in eternity hereafter, it must be that you have existed through eternity in the past; it cannot be otherwise.

Hence the people who desist from the perseverance of will and think that nothing could be achieved.

But Vallalar has broken all the existing theories and says that the fate could be changed. Immortal life of his theory is a phenomenon one to say the same.

In spiritual way, the saints like Sri Arunagiri nathar and Sri Ramalinga Swamigal have made precautionary activities against law of nature –Destiny-Karma .

The Saint Arunagiri nathar says in his Kandar Alangaram as;

நாளென் செயும்வினை தானென் செயுமெனை நாடிவந்த
கோளென் செயுங்கொடுங் கூற்றன் செயுங் குமரேசரிரு
தாளுஞ் சிலம்புஞ் சதங்கையுந் தண்டையுஞ் சண்முகமுந்
தோளுங் கடம்பு மெனக்கு முன்னே வந்து தோன்றிடினே.

All those like Days, Fate, repercussion of planet and Lord Yama Dharma(Death) can do nothing to me as the supreme being will appear whenever those arises. (The saint Arunagiri nathar is reported to be living still now as he had a boom- Immortal life through Lord Kanda for praying him ever).

It amply demonstrates that those who have surrendered to the Almighty-Omnipotent may mitigate the karma-Destiny in positive way. This is indeed very tough job. All the worldly affairs and luxury are to be dedicated to the almighty.

How the Vallalar has shown the way to the human community to overcome the destiny or Karma? ………….
