Abjuring Flesh Meat – From the Perspective of Valluvar and Vallalar

As the people slowly like the vegetarianism, it is no wonder that all the people would follow it very soon. The western people also slowly change their food habits and realize the importance of vegetarianism.

Two thousand of years before Saint Valluvar clearly said that Flesh meat was a hazardous one and the user of it would lose the humanitarianism, which would lead them in to insensuous stage too.

As the vegetarianism is good to the health, the future of the world will stand by pure vegetarianism. Hence we have taken small steps to give the comparative study of what the great saints like Valluvar and Vallalar opined of the flesh meat.

· Vegetarianism and mercy has good correlation. The Compassion or Mercy can not be found in the minds of those who build their bodies with the flesh of other beings” according to Valluvar.

· As the compassion –Mercy is the tool to achieve the bliss or the Immortal life , Vallalar says those who eat flesh meat will not get that benefit.

· Those who have abstained from the flesh meat will get the skills like “Power, Prowess, Strength, and Ability". –Valluvar

· Pure vegetarianism only will offer purity of mind which is very essential for penance and meditation. – Vallalar.

· Vallalar also strongly insists that no animal should be killed for any ritual and pooja. That is why he said that the prayer to the warrior -deity in the villages to be avoided.

· More years of prayer and penance will be vain if one consumes flesh meat. Perhaps the God is with all the living beings, those who consume flesh meat may not get the grace of the God. –Vallalar

Hence one should follow the first basic principle of non –killing of animal for food. Then Jeevakarunyam and disciplined life will lead them to open their third eye. The third eye will show the Grace light and the Immortal life.
