Vanakam everyone!
I follow a vallalar's teaching as much as possible, but i would like to ask your opinion regarding me working in a restaurant as a cook, this is my second job in the eveing but 50% of the income earned goes to the homeless in the form of food as per vallalar's teachings, the problem i have is i cook meat, fish and all the diary products for the customes, but i myself am a vegetarian. I just want to know if i should stop working here since living creatures are killed as food or continue working....I really need some answers.
Thank you very much.

Job and spiritual path are totally different. It is good to be away from your present job if you can find another better job. It is easy to be vegetarian when we live in a place where we can't get any meat food. You prove how strong you are by being among meat but not eating them. Butcher also can become a saint.
You can be proud of you.
Try to follow all other Vallalar teaching also.
Yours,
K. Ganesan
We are Proud of you !
My opinion is change the job as quickly as possible.
Becoz, eventhough as our brother mentioned job and spritual path is kept different.
How one person who is so Compassionate can even see Dead animals !
Here, killing in any way should be STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Seeing dead, One should feel the death experience, How cruel to face it !
Just imagine. And should pray in compassion for dead animal.
If this compassion is needed, then How one can work with it ?
That is why my opinion is change your current job as soon as possible !
With Compassion,
senthil

Vanakkam,
To know Jeevakarunya Ozhukkam, U should be first of all a vegetarian. Then, U should not kill any insect even. Even though you are following the principles of Vallalar, Ur present job will spoil it. So kindly come out from the present job and secure another job.

Thanks for all the replys i have got, regards to working in the resturant, one more question i want to ask, i don't actually kill any animals, they have already been killed somewhere else, i just cook them. So in this case is cooking and killing the same.
Thanks
Dus
You don't kill or eat any animal. That means you don't get any sin from those type of bad behaviors. Vallalar says that one who eats meat is not His dear. Since you don't eat you are dear to Vallalar also. You are inside a process where killing and eating animal happen every moment. You are helpless there to stop them. But you are reminded every moment there to pray for those killed animals. Keep praying as much as you can. Prayer is a powerful tool giving us all we want.
K. Ganesan
So, you have a choice. You can be political and quit the work to dissinvolve yourself with this process; an act of protest in a way and a very small cause toward vegetarianism.
Or you can chant quietly and pray for these poor animals while you work with them. Perhaps these prayers would be the only good cause for evolution that they have in their entire lives (or in this case death.) There is still some sympathetic connection between the meat and the soul of the creature. Like we may make prayers around a body for funeral to help that person in the death travels, so you can do with this meat. If this is true, then you might benefit many beings.
I am thinking this way because i am also a cook. I have been fortunate to work with vegetarian foods for my past several jobs, but at one mission, i washed dishes where they served meat. it was quite disguasting and i was very torn, especially because the mission was feeding people who had survived a disaster similar to the tsunami. We were helping people, but many more beings were being eaten, than were being helped. I am presently in a part of the US where vegetarianism isn't popular and may find myself in a similar position as yourself out of economic necessity. So, I am thinking that I will practice like thuis if circumstance lands me in a kitchen that serves meat.
You are correct. As a profession cooking animal flesh is not a sin.
The only thing is any profession should be done with involvement. Our frieng Mr. Dug, due to the follower of Vallalar's principle he does not have involvement in that job.
He neither eat nor kill animal for food. He just cook the same. In Avadhoodha Geethai, Avadhoodhan was a meat seller and he was questioned, his job was sin or not. He replied that this job is not a sin but eating meat is absolutely sin. He was again asked then why are you doing this job? He replied, This job is given by God and so I am doing this; I am not responsible for my job
The above said concept is acceptable.

First of all, vallalar, our beloved guru stated clearly as one of the suddha
sanmarga principle that no belief in veda-purana-agama and he stated in
arul-vilaka-malai as these books are magic.
So I personally unable to accept the words from some geethai whole-heartedly
Another point I would like to put is, as one of the replies stated,
working with meat is involved in the process killing and eating
My simple question is How a practioner of compassion(sanmargam),
shall even take in his hand the meat?
First of all we have to understand one that every action is already decided. Our friend is not responsible for having a profession in cooking meat. He may pray God to change him to anyother job which is acceptable to Sanmargam.
Vedhas, Agamas and Puranas are the ways which is lenghthier and scopeless to get a immortal ending. So that Vallalar disagreed those things.
Vedhas and Agamas are having true but they are not easily practised.
Persons trust in Vallalar principle are having a straight path. In Vallalar words, VEDHA VAZHI SOBANAM ILLATHATHU; SANMARGAM SOBANAM UDAYATHU. It means path of Vedha having no steps to upstair; But Sanmargam having the proper steps which has the certainity.

We are ready to blindly follow whatever our Guru told us. It is unfortunate to know that our ears are not even ready to listen to other Saint’s words. There can be some topics which we want to know for our upliftment that are not covered by our Vallalar. We have to be open minded. We can’t get ourselves isolated from the society. We have to keep looking around us identifying similarity and dissimilarity. This can help us to strengthen the knowledge we obtained from our Vallalar. Staying away from all other saints is equivalent to insulting them. Our habit is to interpret anything we read in favor of our own taste of interpretation. Our Vallalar is not physically here either with us in order to tell us that this is not what He meant.
We can’t say that our Vallalar is the only one who can uplift all of us. We can’t even say that none other than Vallalar can uplift anybody. Yes, we all are Vallalar’s followers. But at the same time, we have to also be inclined to be willing to look for all other available valuable resources. Our Vallalar can never feel happy from our misinterpretation or from our behavior of unbelieving anybody except Him.
We all must understand onething that money earned out of this profession is part of the money earned out by killing and selling meat and meat products which is definitely a sin and better to be not a party to that .
Further if one has to do poor feeding or help out of this money may not be acceptable to our lord IYYA as he clearly mentions THAT ANYBODY WHO EATS EVEN VEGETARIAN IN A HOUSE WHERE NON VEGETARIAN IS ALSO COOKED OR SERVED IS CONSIDERED AS NON VEGETARIAN.
For our friend this is only a part time job which gives additional money. He can skip this job and survive with available money TILL SUCH TIME HE GETS A JOB and still do some JEEVAKARUNYAM EVEN IN A SMALL WAY WITH MONEY EARNED IN A PROPER WAY WHICH WILL GIVE LOT OF SATISFACTION TO OUR CONSCIENCE.
SUDDHA SANMARGAM is above all which includes all best things available in the world and nothing new available which not told by our lord, but there are certain new things told by LORD VALLALAR which we cant see in others and my humble opinion is that we need not have to compare VEDAS as the deathlessness is not stated so cearly as in ARTPA and in some casestheydont even accept this.
As he said, in Bhavad Geeta, Lord Krishna says Every birth must be followed by death
Our Vallalar clearly states in his ARUTPA, DEATHLESSNESS is possible for all.
He is telling that everyone must attain this DEATHLESSNESS !
What a difference ?
Yes, in Bhavad Geeta, Lord Krishna says Every birth must be followed by death. This birth and death are for the body. It didn't refer to the soul. The soul is always deathless. Every one of us already know this open secrete. We all think that there are countless souls. Our Vallalar told us that all souls are nothing but the one and only God. This knowledge of this oneness is known as the Light. I can never like to hurt myself. Keeping in mind the knowledge of oneness, I can never like others be hurt also.
K. Ganesan
I agree with your statement. Soul is one and the knowledge is understand that Oneness. After getting this knowledge the logic of ANMA NEYA ORUMAIPPADU will be a practical one. We can only imagine that Universal Integeration without this knowledge of Oneness.
This is the first step of Suddha Sanmargam.
This is called ANBU.
Vallalar Thiruvadigale Saranam.

I too agree with our Borther Ganesan statement related to Oneness.
But the statements he made as
This birth and death are for the body.
It didn't refer to the soul.
is belong to Vedanta. Not in sudha sanmargam.
Our vallalar is saying DEATHLESS LIFE for soul and body too. I believe.
We should not leave our body to the soil as this body we got from GOD
after lot of struggle

The statement noted by our beloved brother Senthil is true. Siddhi means getting the immortal life (Deathless Life)with our body too.
Both the soul and body disappear from our eyes.
Vallalar Thiruvadigale Saranam.
Sundara Kannan
Vallalar asks God for body (mei) which can’t be destroyed by air, water etc. Vallalar is proud to say that God has given to Vallalar such a body without any delay (vraithu) . It means that Vallalar has got such a body from God. It doesn’t mean that Vallalar has got his physical body got converted into such a special body.
Soul can never be seen by eye. Physical body of Vallalar didn’t disappear while someone was looking at Vallalar. Our Vallalar went into a room and locked Himself into that room. We didn’t see either Vallalar or His physical body when we opened the door after sometime. None knows anything more about this mystery.
Our Vallalar can never feel happy from our misinterpretation or from our behavior of unbelieving anybody except Him.
Certainly Suddha Sanmarga is the highest teachings, but has Vallalar said specifically regarding this circumstance? Of course working is some cause toward death of animals, if indirect. We live in a world where our taxes are used for killing, where every industrial product involves destruction of beings, and even the plowing of fields kills many beings.
This is a fuzzy gray area. Yes, best to avoid this work. Best to avoid more and more invlvement with any destructive energy. Perhaps we see why Vallalar had only some sheet of cloth to wear, only ate the very minimal. Every action is involved with destruction, even breathing and walking.
So, where Vallalar is not utterly specific, then we must think for ourselves and why not look to other teachers for some insight.
[/quote]
You are correct. While arriving doubts where our Vallalar does not specific anything we can go for other saints. It is not wrong. The passage of divine is very narrow and it has so many curves and bends.
Even our Vallalar in his poems quote some other saints for prove of his concepts.
We can go through other saints with a basement of Vallalar Suddha Sanmargam.
Vallalar Thiruvadigale Saranam.
Sundara Kannan
I must add however that Suddha Sanmarga is a revolution in Spirituality and religion. So, we must carefully discriminate when referencing other religions. Vallalar says religion has some truths, so this means they have much untruth.
I think when we look to old Indian texts, there is much supporting traditional ideas of social dharma. The religion says do your job, it is God's will. This is falsity, i believe. It is a construct to keep the order of society intact. It is very much in all old religion to sublimate one's own Will to authority,...the allegiance of priest and king.
We are always accountable for our actions. if we are doing some job and the boss this or that, it is still our karma if we follow some order. We are not off the hook. If I work with meat, it is my karma to work with that meat. I believe this is the case even if we under duress. Even if someone points a gun at me and says to work with meat, i am still making a choice and my actions are my actions.
We must make our decisions. As i say, whatever we do with money or industry is dirty karma to some extent, we habe to acknowledge this always. But we must decide to what extent we will particpate to what ends. We all can just quit our work, go about naked and eat scraps of food, unless we are in some condition of such poverty that not even a scrap is available.
So people blame war upon leaders, but it is really soldiers who create war. No soldiers, no war. No workers, no industry.
Jesus Christ told his disciples to throw down their fishing nets. Paul said to keep fishing, but give 10% of the earnings to the church.
So, we make these decisions. We want food, shelter, clothing, the internet and so forth. So we work and participate in the system. We must be very cautious in our choices. The saints of old can help us, but we are still accountable when we decide which words to follow. Social convention may say this or that, but we are accountable on which conventions we accept. I think the karma is probably less when we are under duress of econonomic coercian, and acting within the structure into which we were born. But ultimately we have tomake our own way.
Vallalar was rebellious, if peaceful. Christ was rebellious. In this they give great examples to follow. But they are extreme examples that most of us will not reach in our own lives.
Thank God there is ever a connection between Truth and our minds if we Pray to the Lord and meditate on our own Light. Therein is the only hope to wind our ways through this maze in what what virtue we may live.
No doubt that soul does not die and the body only dies.
But as per VALLALAR soul cannot function without body and also it accumulates karma when functions with body.once it gains the karma it is made to take birth which is called life cycle.
Vallalar talks about the deathlessness which can be attained only with body which tansforms fronm the normal body (karma degam) to gnana degam which gets the power of god. Therefore we all need to shed karma in this birth and try and attain the deathlessness state for which we need to follow up Starting from jeevakarunyam ,four disciplines followed by the meditation to tkeover the control of mind which will ultimately lead to the deathlessness.
As for as my knowledge goes this is not clearly specified in GITA.
cORRECT ME IF AM WRONG.
Normal body is not transferred to deathless body instead we get the ability to live forever without being dependent on our normal body. Our Vallalar tells us about Deathlessness which means deathless life not deathless body. Normal body has birth date and therefore it has to end/decompose on its death date. It is our responsibility to achieve our goal of deathlessness within the life span of this purely temporary normal body in which live we for an unknown short time.
K. Ganesan
I certainly agree to the point that our Brother Parameshwaran made.
That is perfectly correct as of my sanmarga knowlegde is concerned.
Few replies back, One more brother Sundara Kannan has also agreed with it.
In suddha sanmargam, there is no DEATH for the physical body.
Only tranformation happens when we get siddhi's to suddha degam-Pranava degam-Gnana
degam.
Traces are there as un udambu oli udambu aga petren.
This clearly means Phisical body to Gnana degam.

Thanks for all the advices and input you all have given me, very interesting, i have learnt a lot, anyways. I actually stopped working at the restaurent two months later, i could not bear it no longer..baking and rosting..killing and cutting...i said enough was enough, although i was suffering money wise. I contiuned with my studies..Just last week I got a job as a Reports Analyst. Thanks to Vallalar and all the saints. I can only say this. Work hard and have faith.
The man who raised the subject working in restaurant himself now says that he had left his job and entered in another good job.
So, with this, this topic may be closed
