Vallalar apart from his spiritual and occult knowledge of things had much of what may be called knowledge of the world. Thus he knew about medicines particularly the indigeneous Siddha system of medicine, medical herbs, literature, music logical argumentation, alchemy, astrology, philosophies such as Vedanta and Siddhantha, mantra shastra, powers behind talisman and gems possessing extraordinary powers and qualities. He could readily discus in great detail on any such subject with one who came to him seeking explanations.
